Volley2

Nov 5, 2025, 11:10 by Stoyan Ruzmanov
Volleyball rules include having six players per team, a limit of three hits per side, and the requirement that a player cannot hit the ball twice in a row (a block does not count as a hit). Players must rotate positions clockwise after each side-out, and a team scores a point when the ball lands in the opponent's court or the opponent commits a fault. A point is awarded for every rally, and matches are typically won by the team that wins a best-of-five set contest, with sets won by the first team to 25 points (or 15 in the final set), and a two-point lead is required. <<!floatImage(img2/>>

Game basics and scoring
  • Teams:
Two teams compete with six players each, with three on the front row and three in the back row.
  • Hits:
A team can hit the ball a maximum of three times before sending it over the net.
  • Consecutive hits:
A player cannot hit the ball twice in a row, but a block does not count as one of the three hits.
  • Scoring:
Rally-point scoring is used, meaning a point is scored on every rally. A team scores a point if the ball lands in the opponent's court or if the opponent commits a fault, like hitting the ball out of bounds.
  • Winning a set:
The first four sets are played to 25 points, and the fifth set is played to 15 points. A two-point lead is required to win a set.
Rotation
  • Players rotate positions one spot clockwise every time their team wins the serve back from the opponent.
  • A team receives the serve from the opponent, and then everyone rotates.
Player actions and faults
  • Serving: The serve must be hit from behind the end line.
  • Illegal contact: It is illegal to catch, hold, or throw the ball.
  • Net violations: Players cannot touch the net while the ball is in play.
  • Line violations: A ball that hits a boundary line is considered "in".
  • Back-row players: Back-row players cannot block or attack the ball from on or inside the 10-foot line.
